NEW PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY!

We are excited to announce a new unique partnership. This summer, Heinzerling Community will be teaming up with Recharge Rally to raise awareness and funds for Heinzerling Community. The Recharge Rally is a 4-day driving adventure for supercar enthusiasts held August 5 – 8, 2021. Drivers will traverse 1500 miles of handpicked driving routes through four states while enjoying private track events and networking opportunities. Heinzerling Community will serve as the official foundation sponsor of Recharge Rally 2021.

The rally begins in Cleveland and stops in Chicago, St. Louis, and concludes in Nashville, Tennessee. During the rally, the Heinzerling Community logo will be displayed on each participant’s car. In addition, this exciting event will raise funds for Heinzerling Community through event proceeds and individual donations. New Technology Grant Supports Resident Programming!

Heinzerling Community recently was the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Good Shepherd Foundation of Ohio. These funds provided our organization with the resources to purchase the TAPit Interactive Platform. This specialized technology equipment will provide our residents with many opportunities for enhanced learning and development. This will include hands-on activities such as virtual art instruction, touch-enabled games, and learning apps, storytelling, switch videos, music instruction, movie nights, and video face-time with loved ones.

This grant support will have a significant impact on Heinzerling residents and open up a whole new world to learn about and explore. In addition, the TAPit will allow our residents to participate in one-on-one video calls with their loved ones. This has become even more important during the Coronavirus pandemic and will make it easier for parents who live further away from Heinzerling Community. We are very grateful to the Good Shepherd Foundation of Ohio for this generous support to assist our residents.

MARCH IS DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES MONTH!

To kick off developmental disabilities month Heinzerling Community staff and residents showed their pride by wearing orange in the month of March. This activity brought our community together and was a lot of fun for all involved. The theme this year for developmental disabilities month is “Inclusion is within everybody’s abilities”.

OFF THE WALL SUCCESS!

This year’s Off the Wall gala was a huge success with more than $125,000 raised for Heinzerling resident programs! We would like to thank all of our community supporters, resident families, staff, volunteers, and corporate sponsors who came out to be a part of this very important event. A very special thank you to COHatch for donating this amazing live auction item.

LEAPING INTO SPRING!

Residents at Heinzerling Community have wasted no time this spring getting out into the community to do some of their favorite activities. From concerts on the green at the Grandview Library to playing Buddy Ball to attending the Columbus Zoo and Columbus Crew games, our residents and staff are ready to be in the outdoors again! In addition, we enjoyed several outdoor activities at Heinzerling including an Easter egg hunt at the Outdoor Sensory Park, hiking, and biking around the Heinzerling Community grounds. We are looking forward to getting the community garden planted and camping out soon. Also, this summer we have plans to have a big Summer Party and attend the Hilliard Pool. These community outings would not be possible without the generous support of our donors. THANK YOU!

Recently Heinzerling Community was awarded the 2018 Columbus Gives Back Partner of the Year award! We were very honored to receive this special award and grateful to have such great volunteers from this fantastic organization visit us to spend time with our residents each month. A special thanks to the Heinzerling Community volunteer and activities coordinators who plan so many well designed and fun activities for the residents and Columbus Gives Back to participate. Some of these include adaptive board games, drumming, and outdoor concerts. Our residents are so lucky to meet and form great friendships with these outstanding community members. We look forward to seeing Columbus Gives Back every third Wednesday of the month!
